Visual Arts

Students at Newington Primary attend Visual Art classes in our innovative and captivating art room, which is designed to be a dynamic, immersive space that fosters creativity, collaboration, and sensory engagement.

Students attend art lessons for one hour each week, for the duration of one semester. This curriculum area is skill based and focuses on the art elements of colour, shape, line, pattern, texture, space and form. Art forms, such as drawing, painting, printing, collage, textiles, ceramics and construction are explored through an inquiry based integrated curriculum and Art History focus. Students are provided with the opportunity to experiment with ideas, concepts and feelings, and are encouraged to use their imagination and perception to plan and create artworks. At Newington PS students have fun each week exploring, developing, creating and presenting their Visual Art to a range of audiences.

At Newington PS, we take great pride and pleasure in sharing and celebrating the children’s beautiful and unique Artwork as they develop their skills and individual creativity at their own pace. Art is an ongoing creative journey for every Newington student, as we learn about our world and respond to it creatively.
